The SLA Awards and Honors Program recognized the work of 19 information professionals at the SLA Annual Conference in Seattle.

2008 John Cotton Dana Award

Granted to an information professional to recognize a lifetime of achievement as well as beyond exceptional service to special librarianship.

2008 Rose L. Vormelker Award

Presented to an SLA member in good standing who is mid-career for beyond exceptional services in area of mentoring students and/or working professionals.

Presented to an SLA member in good standing at or near the end of their active professional career to recognize service and contribution to the Association. Spots in the SLA Hall of Fame are also granted for prolonged distinguished service of an SLA Unit (chapter or division) that has contributed to the success of the Association as a whole.

2008 Dow Jones Leadership Award

Presented annually to an SLA member in good standing who exemplifies leadership as a special librarian through examples of personal and professional competencies.

2008 Innovations in Technology Award

Granted to an SLA member in good standing for innovative use and application of technology in a special library setting.

2008 Springer Professional Award

This SLA award recognizes a special event, major achievement or specific significant contribution from an SLA member to the field of librarianship or information science that advances the Association's goals and objectives.

2008 Thomson Member Achievement Award

Granted to an SLA member for raising visibility, awareness, and appreciation of profession, SLA Unit or the Association at large.

2008 Fellow of SLA

Presented to an SLA member to recognize leadership in their career as an information professional. Fellowship is bestowed on mid-career SLA members in recognition of past, present and future service to the Association and the profession.

2008 Diversity Leadership Development Program Award

Awarded to an SLA member who represents a group traditionally under-represented in the Association. The recipient must have an interest in and potential for leadership with SLA.
